Honestly, this is one of the easiest professions to level. There isn’t as much a guide that I can provide, as I can give you a list of key points to keep in mind.
The way you level up this profession is with a lot of parchment (paper) that you buy from the inscription supplier. Don’t bother leveling this profession unless you’re right next to the trainer and supplier because it’ll save on bag space.
You make ink with pigments, pigments are obtained by “disenchanting” or “prospecting” any herb in stacks of 5. It’s very much like jewelcrafting in that you’re going to create a lot of items that you probably won’t be able to use and possibly won’t be able to sell in the AH either. As you train new pigments just mousing over them in the crafting window will tell you EXACTLY which herbs you need to mill in order to get the pigment.
Crafting glyphs and scrolls will go from orange to yellow in about 5 skill-ups typically. You can also make darkmoon cards for some extra profit or just to help level if you have a surplus on the green quality “rare” pigment/inks.
Once you get to northrend you’re going to be set making more ink than you can handle and through the daily (20 hour cooldown) skill you will learn new glyphs.
Expect to be going through hundreds of stacks of herbs when you level this profession. And don’t discard any leftover ink or pigments! You’ll probably need them when filling orders for players later down the road.
