Alliance in Cataclysm Lore: The Dwarves (SPOILER)

Alliance in Cataclysm Lore: The Dwarves (SPOILER)

Don’t be alarmed, everything is pretty fucking crazy right now. I’m not done yet with my mega Alliance lore post but I have some of the Dwarf specific stuff.

There is no longer a King of Ironforge. Magni Bronzebeard struck a deal with the powers that be (elementals and their ilk), pleading for Ironforge to be spared during the Catalcysm. As a result he paid the price and was turned to stone. Supposedly later in the expansion Thrall and the rest of the Earthen Ring will work to reanimate him.

The new leadership of the dwarves is a council of three.

  • Representing the mountain dwarves: Muradin Bronzebeard!
  • Speaking for the Wildhammer clan and the dwarves of the Aerie Peaks: Falstad Wildhammer!
  • And finally the voice of the Darkirons: Moira Bronzebeard! (and yes that is her infant son, progeny of Moira and Dagran Thaurissan)

The three clans are now one again with shaman and magi alike now part of the dwarven race as a whole. Obviously tensions are going to be sickeningly high but all the same, this is pretty cool.

  1. THAT
    IS
    AWESOME

I love this. I love Magni’s sacrifice, I think the Clans coming back together again is so cool. And there’s going to be some interesting tensions as the Dark Irons return to the fold.

Kind of like Mages returning to the Night Elves.

Loving all the Cataclysm lore. The new horde stuff was fantastic.

  2. Miggy Gamma says:

As a whole, the Dwarves are one of the most interesting and fun races in the game. All I can Say is Dwarf shamans=major win. From a lore standpoint it’s very awesome..and what better race combination (sorry draenei shaman have always=fail in my book). Either way I’m loving the new lore going into cataclysm. Alot of things are changing for the better…some not so much. The alliance may have had the better looking areas, but the lore has always been a bit lackluster. The races with the best lore backing them up for the alliance has always been the Dwarves and the Night Elfs. Thank you for making the Alliance worth playing now Blizzard :)

  3. this interests me, As a Dwarf warrior I wonder how much resentment Moria will carry over from you (well the few…) killing her husband/boyfriend/Fbuddy with a throne. She seemed pretty unhappy when she let you know rather bitterly that the next king of Ironforge would be a dark Iron.. which makes me wonder if this isn’t a power move just to kill Muri and Falstad and re-take the ancestral home of the 3 dwarf clans for themselves. safe to say I’m pensive and a little misty eyed thinking about the end of ‘Vanilla’… but hey chocolate swirl still has vanilla in it! :D
