Druid

Druids are the keepers of the world and masters of nature with a diverse array of abilities. They are powerful healers, capable of curing poisons and raising fallen comrades in the thick of battle. Druids also command nature’s wrath, calling down ranged blasts of energy, summoning swarms of insects, or entangling their foes in the earth. But druids are also masters of the wild, able to shapeshift into a great bear, cat, or even sea lion, gaining their powers in combat or travel. Druids are a diverse class with a variety of playstyles, capable of filling any role.

Druids truly are the jack of all trades hybrid class. More than any other hybrid class in the game, druids can meet or even exceed some of their “pure type” competitor classes. A resto druid can heal just as good or better than a priest, feral druids can either tank or in cat form can match the melee DPS of rogues, and balance druids can sustain magic damage on par with other caster classes like mages and warlocks.

Druids also have major benefits in PVP as shifting into their different forms grants added mobility and breaks all snare or root effects.

Balance: Balance druids are also known as moonkin (or boomkin) druids. Their main forte is magic damage through nature and arcane, calling down pillars of moonfire and starfire, or casting swarms of insects and raw nature energy to damage and harass their enemies. Balance druids can also summon up small typhoons to knockback enemies and deal nature damage to them, they can summon treants to help fight and they can shift into Owlkin form granting them major bonuses to spell damage.

Feral: Feral druids are masters of shapeshifting, they are the msot in touch with the beast within. Feral druids are one of the prefered leveling spec since they can shift into bear form and withstand large amounts of damage, then shift back into humanoid form to heal after a fight. Feral druids excel at tanking (if specialized in those talents) or melee DPS (through cat form bonuses). They can prowl in stealth like rogues and debilitate their foes with different bleed effects and other debuffs. Feral druids who gear and specialize properly can also be formidable main tanks for their raid groups.

Restoration: Resto druids are straight up healers. They have many heal over time spells that don’t exactly heal for a lot of front but will more than double other heals after a few seconds. Resto druids are some of the most mobile and powerful PVP healers since almost all of their spells are instant cast and scale very well with gear. A resto druid can also specialize to attain the tree of life shapeshift form that gives great bonuses to healing done and reduces the mana cost of all heal over time spells by 20%. The new 51pt talent as well is an amazing heal that has shown it can really benefit all dungeon or raid parties with it’s massive group heal.

Wowhead has a really great talent calculator where you can experiment with new builds for your Druid.

  1. *claps excitedly* I’m stoked about all the changes. I can’t wait to make a mooncow! But first, I have to get this squishy priest to 70…
