WotLK Leak Week: What we know of Leatherworking in the expansion.
Finally, the last profession. Now Leatherworking got some really crazy stuff that has pretty much now become a staple of the profession in the Burning Crusade; Drums & Armor kits. What Blizzard has planned int he expansion looks AMAZING. This is the first time in a while that I don’t regret keeping Leatherworking & Skinning maxed.
They did nerf drums a little bit though. Not so much as nerf as it is a fix. Big raiding guild (Nihilum etc) were having everybody in their raids picking up Leatherworking so they could spam drum buffs constantly in each group and that can give an edge that would be very overpowered with the new drums coming in Wrath of the Lich king.
- Jormungar Leg Armor- Permanently attach jormungar armor onto pants to increase Stamina by 45 and Agility by 15. Can only attach to armor in your possession, and attaching causes the item to become soulbound.
- Nerubian Leg Armor – Permanently attach nerubian armor onto pants to increase attack power by 60 and critical strike rating by 15. Can only attach to armor in your possession, and attaching causes the item to become soulbound.
- Jormungar Leg Chitin – Permanently attach clefthide armor onto pants to increase Stamina by 50 and Agility by 18. Can only attach to armor in your possession, and attaching causes the item to become soulbound.
- Nerubian Leg Chitin – Permanently attach nerubian chitin onto pants to increase attack power by 70 and critical strike rating by 18. Can only attach to armor in your possession, and attaching causes the item to become soulbound.
- Borean Armor Kit – Permanently increase the Stamina of an item worn on the head, chest, shoulders, legs, hands or feet by 12. Can only be used on armor in your possession, and attaching the armor kit causes the item to become soulbound.
- Heavy Borean Armor Kit – Permanently increase the Stamina of an item worn on the head, chest, shoulders, legs, hands or feet by 15. Can only be used on armor in your possession, and attaching the armor kit causes the item to become soulbound.
- Dragonscale Leg Armor – Permanently attach dragonscale armor onto pants to increase Stamina by 72 and Agility by 35. Can only attach to armor in your possession, and attaching causes the item to become soulbound.
- Protoscale Leg Armor – Permanently attach protoscale armor onto pants to increase attack power by 100 and critical strike rating by 36. Can only attach to armor in your possession, and attaching causes the item to become soulbound.
- Drums of Great Battle – Increases movement speed by 15% and haste rating by 95 on nearby party members. Lasts 30 sec. Drums can be used while shapeshifted.
- Drums of Major Restoration – Restores 144*5 health and mana to nearby party members over 15 sec. Drums can be used while shapeshifted.
- Drums of Dark War – Increases attack power by 75 and spell damage by 44 on nearby party members. Lasts 30 sec. Drums can be used while shapeshifted.
- Drums of Precision – Increases hit rating by 95 on nearby party members. Lasts 30 sec. Drums can be used while shapeshifted.

This is ridiculous. Now every tank has to be a LW just to get the leg patches?
it’s a minor upgrade for LWs. Kind of like the alch stones and unique gems.

It will be kind of how everyone thought you had to have enchanting to get enchanted rings. It’s a plus, but not a huge plus.
Hey Brian, just thought I would clear this up, the answer is no you don’t have to be LW just to get the leg patch, I could be a LW and give you the kit, then you attach it to what ever you want, but when you attach it, that becomes soulbound to you, and I assume there will be restrictions on it as well, ie the item has to be lvl 40 or higher..
Right now there is a Twink problem with Armour kits and Threads, I could make Runic Spell thread and give it to my lvl 70 friend. He could put this Thread on a lvl 19 green or blue BOE pair of pants, and then mail these pants to his twink and he could have a twink with pants that have 35 stam and +40 spell dmg to them.. which is insane.
With this new restriction in place if you put the Thread on the lvl 19 BOE blue pants, the pants are now yours and you can’t mail them to your twink.
Enjoy for now but come WotLK this will no longer be possible
OH So the patches now work more like how you get something enchanted! That makes alot better sense. No more AH for your LW Patches. Ok ok ok. I actually like that
I hope they make a serious improove on LW.. otherwise im rerolling Inscription or something..
Bop leg armor kits that are only for Leatherworkers would be nice and equal to other professions (JC unique gems, Ench have ring enchants. etc)…

Sry 4 the grammar
The leg armor can still be used by anyone, it is just level restricted now and once you put it on your item is soul bound … anyone can use it. AND there -are- better kits for LW’s self use than the ones we can sell to everyone else.
People it’s like a few have mentioned however still people don’t seem to get it. Armor kits and leg patches etc are made by LW’s. Once we make them we can give them to anyone or sell them in the AH just like before however say I give you a leg patch kit or an armor kit and you put it on a pair of leggings you have that are BOE those leggings are now Soulbound to you and you have to either wear them or sell them to a vendor. So anyone can use the patch you can just only use them for yourself after you’ve bought or received the patch. Nothing has changed other than they’ve added new patches and armor kits with new improved stats. Just like the Burning Crusades Nethercobra and Nethercleft leg armor.
from what i read there IS a change, lw’s got now patches they can use on their gear only, they CAN’T trade em
