So you hunters want to tame a Worgen?
Pretty much “get it while it’s hot” type stuff here ladies. There is a way for hunters to essentially tame a Worgen discovered at Mania’s Arcania, however. If you did all the quests in the Howling Fjord you’re shit out of luck. For those that qualify, here’s how you do it:
First off you have to find Garwal. He’s in the howling fjord and you can only see him if you’re on the alpha Worg quest chain there. Make sure that you’re spec’d survival deep enough for Wyrven Sting and keep in mind that you’re going to probably kill him more time than tame him so be ready to try this for a while. If you don’t get the timing right then he will revert back to his wolf form upon taming. He should look like a wolf at the character select screen, that’s normal.
Steps:
- Find Garwal.
- DPS down until he is a little over half health, in the high 60’s as far as % goes is a good place.
- Cast wyrven sting on him and get ready to cast tame beast.
- Wait until there are 14 seconds left on the sting.
- Cast tame beast.
- If you had the timing right, the damage will tic as he wakes up, this will force him to shift into worgen form as his HP will be amazingly low, and your tame will happen a slit second afterwards.
Congratulations!
Knowing Blizzard though this is going to be removed rather quickly. See, they like to shit all over anything that isn’t part of the intended game mechanics. So vehicle mounts like mammoths and hogs and such being immune to fall damage, that’s gone. Taming the spirit wolf in Dustwallow Marhs, that’s gone too. I expect this little treat to be gone soon enough. Because a worgen pet is too game breaking for the developers…

What rank of Wyvern’s Sting are you using? Apparently that makes a really big difference when trying to get Garwal.
I personally haven’t done this because my hunter already completed the quest a long time ago, however. I’d experiment multiple times with this because I don’t believe killing him once by mistake will stop respawns.
No long works, the named wolf comes up as “Not Tamable”
