New Crafting Materials for Wrath of the Lich King

New Crafting Materials for Wrath of the Lich King

Alright so from the begining we have been killing elementals for their goods. In classic World of Warcraft we would get essences; essence of death essence of life, essence of fire and so forth. In the Burning Crusade we were given a whole new set of good we had to farm up so that people couldn’t just plow through old world monsters at level 70 and get tons of mats on the cheap. Enter the motes and primals we are now currently familiar with.

So where does that leave us for WotLK? Are we going to yet again, wail on elemental hovering dudes to get their motes and primals? No my friend we have a much cooler setup now, the Revenant. Instead of Primals we’re getting Eternals, and instead of motes we have Crystallized forms such as Crystallized Air and Earth.

Revenants are minor elemental creatures who once served as foot soldiers for the malefic Old Gods when the world was young. When the titans defeated the Old Gods and chained them beneath the earth, the wicked revenants and their greater elemental cousins were banished to the Elemental Plane. Locked away from the world they once ruled, the fire of the elementals’ hatred of the titans and their creations burned with increasing intensity. As the millennia passed, reckless mortal wizards began to summon elementals back into the physical world. Free at last, many revenants struck out against the mortals that had summoned them and set out to forge their own destiny among their native elements in the world. These evil beings exist only to inflict strife and sow elemental chaos. Though they have limited intelligence, their sheer hatred and will to destroy make them fearful opponents when encountered in the wilds of the world.MoM 84 Many still live on the Elemental Plane.

Revenants are hateful undead creatures who are outside the domain of Ner’zhul’s control. Bonded to base elemental spirits, these phantom creatures live only to rage and use their powers for destruction.W3Man 84

Revenants appear as undead elemental creatures with the ability to cast elemental magics according to their type. Although appearing undead, Revenants have no affiliation with the Scourge as they have some sort of innate immunity to Ner’Zhul’s psychic control over undead. They remain neutral in the conflict between the Horde and the Alliance. They look similar to floating suits of armor, bound by elemental energy, according to their elemental type. They also wield large maces and carry giant shields. The most famous revenant is the Guardian, protector of Frostmourne.

But in Wrath of the Lich King I can only assume they will be the next farm fodder. Now this is NOT confirmed information but the presence of these monsters and the subsequant crafting materials only makes sense. Here’s a glimpse.

  1. I am afraid to fight an elemental that looks like a hard ass and not a pansy.

  2. Cram the sucker full of dynamite and pray?

But funny you use that term because from what I have seen everything in Northrend looks like a fucking hardass now. Half the mobs are giants the other half undead shambling monstrosities that actually LOOK undead (the Giests run faster than fuckall and have sacks over their heads with hangman’s nooses still wrapped around their throats) and whatever % is left is named Mage Killer or Kitten Ripper or something like that.

  3. Shame these Revenants don’t look like their WarCraft III counterparts (which, imo, look better). Still it’s a pretty cool model. The Air Revenant looks more like an Ethereal than an Air Elemental though.

I assume Eternal Mights will be making their way into WotLK too?

  4. Bingo Shen

And yes I like the idea of the “Guardian” revenants like in WC3 but the most famous one being the guardian of the frostmourne I reckon we’re going to see some revenants showing up that look like the WC3 types.
