WoWWiki gets a major upgrade.

I noticed this the other night as I was writing and sourcing the Worgen Lore article, WoWWiki doesn’t look like turd anymore. I mean don’t get me wrong it didn’t look that bad from the start, but it was aggravating a while back when I would get hundred of search errors for pages that I KNEW existed or that if I was bored and maybe wanted to browse something, that was pretty much out of the question.

Well following suit with Blizzard’s changes with their forums page, WoWWiki is now totally revamped.

  • WoWWiki is now hosted in a distributed fashion across the Wikia network. There’s a Wiki for just about everything, what this means is that we’ll be getting a more reliable experience and there won’t be as many errors.
  • The OpenSearch plugin is now working again, so you can add WoWWiki as a search engine in Firefox or IE7. If you like to use WoWWiki to look things up (boss strategies and such, pulls in a raid zone you’ve never been to, etc) this plugin would be great.
  • It has a new version of MediaWiki, which adds some improvements to the site (adding YouTube videos and such) as well as fixing some bugs and other glitches.
  • It actually has nav bars now that work the way one should, this has GREATLY improved the site’s navigation.
  • Speaking of the side bar, you can change the settings around so you can pick which sections you would like to have loaded and in what order. Kind of like the sidebars on my site only you know, I fiddle with them instead.

Overall this is a good thing, finding information that I can easily cite for legitimacy was good with WoWWiki and now it’s gotten much better.

Yeah, I use WoWWiki as a kind of Handbook for WoW.

It used to be my Homepage.

Take a guess at what my Homepage is now.
