Spooner’s 2008 World of Warcraft gift Guide

Hi. Welcome to a gift guide that doesn’t completely suck ass. Here’s a tailor made list of the top 10 gifts for your WoW friends this holiday season.

The Fan

Your diehard fans (like me), your raiders, your red blooded gamer folk; these are the players that are very much into the gaming community and really gush about gaming swag.

The Gaming Mouse. I want this. I want this BAD. Got a chance to play with it at Blizzcon this year and I was blown away. I’m not much for extra gaming devices since I’m a minimalist at heart, but this thing is so freaking sexy. Macros up to 160 characters, has a total of 15 programmable buttons, it has over 130 predefined commands for drag-and-drop macro creation, and 16 million illumination choices with 3 intensity and pulsation levels.

This wonderful Caffeine bundle crate from Thinkgeek. They have different kinds but hands down you have to get BRAWNDO! Watch the movie and you’ll understand. It’s the thirst MUTILATOR!

A Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth or Mechano-Hog. It’s damn expensive. If you have 20k gold sitting around and you want to guarantee complete mastery over somebody, get them this. It’s pretty much a get out of jail free gift. Dumping 20k gold on somebody is kind of a big deal regardless of your economic status.

The Non-Player

This is for the wife, the roommate, the whoever in your life that either doesn’t play or can’t fathom playing the game as much as the more hardcore.

One free day with the “kids”. If you’re a husband (or even a wife) then makeup a little coupon that grants your significant other (or rommate whatever) a free day where they don’t have to do shit. Watch the kids, clean the house, do the dishes, do whatever it is you typically NEVER do since you’re online. This is the gift that eventually gives back.

World of Warcraft Clothes! Want to get your buddy or partner in on the fun? Maybe they already play but aren’t as jazzed as you are on a typical evening in Azeroth. Some really nice threads could be just the gift you’re looking for.

A copy of the Battlechest/Wrath of the Lich King and the Recruit a Friend Key. Just tell themt o accept the inevitable and you get a sweet Zebra mount out of the deal.

For Everybody!

Not really geared for any one type in particular, these are things everybody is sure to enjoy.

World of Warcraft Comics/Novels. Everybody likes something to do during downtime or even when your giving your eyes a break from the intense radiation of your monitor. The comic series and the novels are all well written and very entertaining. You’ll never look at Azeroth again after learning the backstory to some of your most memorable faces and locales.

Game Time Cards! It’s a free guaranteed 60 days of play time that won’t be sitting on your bank (or credit) card. You can’t go wrong with that.

WoW Trading Card Game Loot! There are a few sites and TONS on Ebay where you can find loot cards ranging from very expensive to downright cheap. It’s a nice little stocking stuffer that you can surprise just about any World of Warcraft player with and are sure to get smiles from.
