Scourge Invasion coming Back to Azeroth for Wrath of the Lich King!

For the old people (like me): HELL YES WE’RE BACK BABY!

For the new people: When Naxxramas was introduced into the game a little while before Burning Crusade, there was a massive world wide event. Scourge forces from levels 1-60 (60 being max cap at the time) were in almost every zone of importance. There were floating necropolis buildings in front of Undercity, Gadgetzan, all over the place. It was basically a massive war across the world versus the undead scourge.

Here’s an excerpt from the official website from way back when:

Several regions of Azeroth have come under attack by Scourge forces. Members of the Argent Dawn are already organizing a worldwide counter to the Scourge invasion, keeping an eye out for any necropolis sightings and passing on their information to all adventurers willing to aid them in their struggle. You would do quests and the likes all over the world fighting undead to gain a very rare Argent Dawn Tabard and items called Necrotic Runes that were used as tokens for loot. The gear was actually pretty good and coveted during the event. With Wrath of the Lich King right around the corner, it seems that Blizzard has officially unofficially announced that the invasion will commence again!

If people chose to get rid of the runes, that’s certainly their choice. I can understand wanting to free up bank space, certainly, particularly over the space of time.

Many people playing now never had the chance to get those runes, and if you have none you’re right on par with them.

But I don’t lie when I say the Necrotic Runes are going to have a use again… quite soon. (src)
