I’ve never been a fan of tracking down and hunting rare spawns. I sucked at back in FFXI and I suck at it now. I mean, sure having a Time-Lost Proto Drake would be pretty freaking sweet; but there’s no way I can scour a massive expanse of the Storm Peaks for 24 hours straight looking for a dragon that shares a spawn timer with two other rare monsters and only one of them can exist in the zone at the same time.
Funny enough through my aversion to rare mobs I have run into no less than two of them so far in Northrend and promptly collected my loot form both. The first was this crazy ass bird in the Sholazar Basin. I figured I was doing the hunters a favor in allowing the Spirit Beast to spawn for taking out this massive parrot. 25g, a stack of cloth, and some crystallized elements were my reward; also some plate bracers of the beast that I think scored me a cool 30g.
But the story I share with you today is of a massive bugged giant that spawns out in the open reaches of Icecrown; and his pinky ring sold for 40g. I chased him as he hopped at blazing speed across the zone (I guess he was resetting) for a good 5 minutes before I got him to settle down.
I got the big Vykrul bitch in Jotunheim and this rare mammoth actually walked INSIDE wyrmrest temple. I got him too.
Those are the only two I’ve seen so far :/
I used to suck in playing FFXI as well and I tried out WoW. WoW has great graphics and game play but my friends all went back to FFXI so I only play WOW when the servers are down in FFXI..
You know what’s funny? I just ran into a rare today and I tried looking up on all the sites that are popular and none of them have it. I’m not sure of the name i just looked up every rare spawn in the game that is in grizzly hills and wala not there
Im in fucking zul drak, flying around, it’s been 5min and i finally find Gondria, that sexy looking purple spectral tiger spirit beast. So i go and abondon my pet and lay down a trap and begin to tame it, but i cant. You need to be a Beast Master… Im not speccing to that dumb spec just to tame it. I did kill it tho.
it’s not a cat, it’s a spirit beast the bets DPS pet in the game hands down. going 51pts into beast mastery is well worth it as long as you have a strong pet, that’s the point of the tree. the shot rotations and such aren’t as complex as SV or MM but the DPS is competitive if you have good pet management (your ass doesn’t let the pet die) and if you have a strong pet.

I have been hunting down those rare spawns and I have gotten 7 in about 3 days. I got the from Ice Crown, I got 2 from Zul Drak, I got this crawling blob thing from Grizzley, I got this Maiden on her dragon in Howling. Its alot of work. I use 2 addons for it plus I eat some buff food and have my spamming macros. With the buff food I can track beasts or humans just like a hunter it helps.
