Wrath of the Lich King Shatters 1-day Sales

After a fun-filled launch night at thousands of midnight openings and a week for everyone to begin exploring the mysteries of Northrend, we’re pleased to be able to share the first sales results for Wrath of the Lich King. In its first 24 hours of availability, the expansion sold over 2.8 million copies to become the new fastest-selling PC game of all time, eclipsing the previous record of nearly 2.4 million set by The Burning Crusade. For full details, check out the official announcement.

We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone in the global World of Warcraft community, whose enthusiasm has made this possible.

Congratulations to Blizzard for completely WTF OWNING this industry.

Halo 3 sold ~2.4-2.5 million in the U.S. alone, so it owned this game.

First of all, read the damn press release. 2.8 million copies (WotLK sales) is MORE than 2.5 million copies (Halo 3).

Secondly, Halo 3 is X-Box, not PC. Thirdly, Halo 3 is a FPS, not a subscription-based MMO. I know halofags have to constantly convince themselves that they and their game are #1, but you’re just retarded if you think that Halo 3 is overall a better game than WoW. WoW has over 10 million active subscribers, each paying $15 per month, in addition to each expansion/installment, which cost about $40 each.

So, all 11 million subscribers buying a copy of WotLK = $440 million dollars, PLUS more than $150 million per month from the subscriptions. You’re trying to tell me that Halo 3 is making Microsoft more money than Blizzard is making off of WoW? LOL @ you.

All told, WotLK is far more profitable than Halo 3, and to top it all off its First-Day Sales records beats Halo 3 too.

Lich king only managed 2.8M worldwide day 1. HAHAHAHAHAH.

Halo 3 sold 2.5M DAY-1 US ALONE. It sold 267k in UK and more than 100.000 in Canada DAY-1.

So Halo 3’s North America Day-1 = 2.6<M and UK, US Canada = 2.867M hahahahahah

    and that’s only 3 countries.

WW, HALO 3 topped 3.3M copies.

    Cry me a river now.

WoW sucks and Halo 3 outsold it.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH
