Wrath of the Lich King: Battle of the Wrath Gate Cinematic in game! Most EPIC event ever…

Alright well I just officially shit myself. I have no shame in admitting this. This video contains A LOT of spoilers and some very game changing deaths. I have no idea what the fuck is going on at the end, but Bolvar, Saurfang the Younger, I have a newly found respect for such characters. When this goes down in the game, all common sense is going to SHATTER! (update: changed the title now that I’ve calmed down)

UPDATED FROM WORLD OF RAIDS & BLIZZPLANET

The cutscene shows they actually manage to lure out the Lich King from inside the mountains with a Vrykul army no less, but at the same time Grand Apothecary Putress attacks the Wrath Gate. In the battle Saurfang the Younger is killed by the Frostmourne and Highlord Bolvar Fordragon dies from the plague. After this the player gets to experience THE most epic questchain in the game. Seriously. As a Horde player, while Alexstrasza and Krasus try to control the chaos at the Wrath Gate, you are asked to take the armor Saurfang the Younger to his father in Warsong Hold. He immediately sends you to Orgrimmar where the effects of the devastating attack already show. Everywhere outside and inside the city Forsaken Refugees, martial law in the city, all services are shut down, Overlord Runthak trying to control the angry crowd of vendors.

In Thrall’s Chambers Zul’jin is missing but Sylvanas is on his right side at the throne. As Thrall debriefs you on how Varimarthas – a dreadlord, right-hand of Sylvanas – launched a surprise attack on The Undercity Lady Jaina Proudmoore teleports herself in bringing terrible news. The King of Stormwind is about to declare war on the Horde for Bolvar’s death. Thrall reveals to her that it was not the Horde, but Varimarthas who appears to have been misleading everyone over all these years.

When arriving to The Undercity, Zul’jin awaits you, but shortly after Thrall and Sylvanas arrive too to retake the city from the Scourge. With the help of crazy buffs, the small player army, 3 heroes of the Horde and their guards slowly manage to overcome the courtyard of the city dispelling the blight being spread there and defeating a huge Grobbulus-like boss. Progression into the city is soon halted as the elevators are out of service. No worries, Thrall calls the Element of Wind to help form a cyclone easing our decent.

Below the sad new face of the city presents itself as all personell that didn’t manage to escape is dead or worse (worse being reconverted to mindless Scourge now opposing us). After fighting our way through the inner city we stop again as doomguards begin the bomb us where the Auctioneers used to be and we have ourselves a huge Kazzak-like boss to defeat. Now the only thing left is cutting through the Scourge to the Royal Quarter where Varimarthas keeps opening portals to bring in more and more soldiers. Defeating him is not easy but eventually we manage – knowing that he will surely be back as dreadlords cannot be killed with any known methods.

As one of the betrayers is dealt with, our army now moves to kill Putress… or not. The King of Stormwind and his elite guards arrive with fury and the intention of destroying all of the Horde. As the two groups jump at each other Lady Jaina teleports in and freezes everyone. She teleports all of the crazy Alliance dudes back home to have time to explain everything.

Sadly it appears she has not succeeded. All out war has broken out between the Horde and the Alliance again. Thanks to the retarded King, instead of joining together to kill the Lich King, we now fight each other to make the Scourge’s job a little bit easier. Thrall says “It ends like it began… All that we have fought for in this world is lost. The hopes and dreams carried by my father and mother… by Doomhammer… Gone…”.

Well, look at it from King Varian’s perspective – he’s been a slave to an Orc, forced to fight in gladiator-style matches, been manipulated into being out of the action these four years (which gives him a MAJOR guilt trip that he wasn’t there to help his people), and the man who held everything together while he was gone has been killed…

…by a member of the Forsaken. So he personally marches to the U.C., sees the ruins of what was once the Alliance capital, probably sees all the bodies of the humans the Forsaken experimented on, and all the decadence that has set in since he was last there.

Would you not be extremely pissed at Sylvanas, and by extention Thrall, for letting it come to this? Thrall should have seen this coming – SYLVANAS especially should have seen this coming. King Varian’s fed up with playing nice, he sees a threat to his people in both the Scourge AND the Horde, so he’s taking his stand here and now against the both of him.

I think he’s wrong, but you know what? He’s not entirely wrong. Sylvanas was a total idiot to trust a Goddamn DREADLORD (who thrive on deception and manipulation) and to be so blind soas not to see this coming from miles away.

    100% Awesomeness.

Think we might see Saurfang the Younger again? He was personally killed by the Lich King, not the Forsaken plauge, and the movie makes it clear that his soul was stolen. Maybe he’ll be a raid boss in Icecrown Citadel.

Sylvanas was initially little more than a spirit, too. She didn’t get a body until the Frozen Throne expansion.

This is what I see for Cru the Dwarf when I close my eyes.

I think that we blood elves should just stay quietly out of this one. lock up quel’thalas, just like we did when arthas attacked, and hope that we’re ignored. that sounds nice to me.

    A W E S O M E !

This sets up for an RTS, possibly a Warcraft 4 (um, surely…)! Horde VS Alliance! FTHHHHHH!!!

Once again the Horde is tasked with cleaning up yet ANOTHER Alliance mess. Damn elves bringing the Burning Legion in the first place for the first time. Medivh’s mother being so arrogant that she all but ASKED Sargeras to be reborn as her child. Medivh opening the portals to Outland that brought the orcs to Azeroth and the only reason why the Allies even won that war was because Orgrim got screwed by some his followers, not enough was done about Arthas and his merging with Ner’zhul on the Alliance part and when Kael’thas betrayed the alliance, idiots decided to kick the WHOLE RACE out. Like morons, the Alliance wants MORE war with the Horde. The only Alliance people worth any respect at all would be Lady Jaina, Taretha Foxton, Lord Uther and Lord Fordragon.

The Forsaken, as a whole, should NEVER had been welcomed into The Horde, but Thrall decided to give them and The Belves one chance to prove themselves as worthy members of the Horde. The betrayal of part of the Forsaken must have hurt Thrall, but he still helped Lady Sylvannas regain UC, despite the fact that the Forsaken view the Horde as a convenience. He never blamed her or the rest of the Forsaken for the sins of Varimathras and the rogue undead faction. The Alliance does that, not Horde.

Varian is bitter because he was enslaved and made to fight in gladiatorial combat in Horde lands? Boo hoo. Same thing happened to Thrall, but Thrall decided to take the high road and ordered no Horde offensives against the Alliance unless provoked.

“We’ve tried peace..Let’s see what BATTLE brings?” That’s what Varian said? Pfff. Typical Human. There’s a common threat in front of you and you’d rather pick at the old scar on your backside. Nice. Can’t wait to finally get my hands on a copy of WOTLK next week. Should be good to play as the REAL good guys once again.
