The great Primal argument: Unbound vs BOP.
It’s already been confirmed that Nether Vortex’s and Primal Nethers are going to be bind on equip in patch 2.4 as I reported in this post a while back.
Basically what this means is that guilds that run SSC/TK regularly will be able to put Vortex’s into the guild bank and such, and any groups that run through heroic or certain normal mode instances will be able to pass the Nethers around with less drama.
Right now with the current system of both crafting materials being bind on pickup allows crafters to have a very exclusive monopoly on the market. If anybody wants a Red Belt of Battle crafted then they better be ready to fork over some major cash for 2 Vortex’s, the rest of the materials are easy enough to come by as is.
Essentially it’s a pretty dirty fight between people for and against this change as you can see from this post in the Official Professions Forums. One side of the argument being that once again, hardcore players believe that they are still entitled something because they put in more time playing than the average Joe.
Assuredly the logic makes sense until you realize that your rewards for the extra man hours and effort is the progression. Most hardcore raiders and such have had exclusive access to the gear and content months if not years before anybody else, that in itself as well as the fun had and feeling of victory when an encounter was beaten should be the reward. You pay to play, nothing more.
The counter argument is very sound though and Sylindra from Moonrunner realm put it best with her reply:
“ …
I have to say, I was getting tired of having to constantly pass on Primal Nethers in Heroics and it doesn’t make sense that you can’t put the Vortexes in the Guild Bank so they can be used to, you know, equip the raid.
BoP Nethers and Vortexes were good for players who’s primary toon was a crafter. Yes, you’re monopoly on Nether and Vortex items is going to end. No, it’s not the end of the world. Yes, competition is better for everyone except you.”
