World First Shadowmourne

Congratulations are in order for one certain Modk, a Death Knight in the Juggernaut guild (US-Mal’ganis) who is the first player to complete the quest line to rebuild the legendary Shadowmourne. I think everybody else here is with me when I say, congratulations you lucky son of a bitch.

Something you’ll never have: Shadowmourne

In keeping up with news and shit and items I’ll probably never see in my lifetime, Blizzard has released a little diddy on the latest and possibly last Legendary item for Wrath of the Lich King.

I first saw this legendary hunter weapon (joke) at Blizzcon earlier this year (2009) and since then have been wondering what the big deal is. I’m happy to see Blizzard giving the lore treatment to their new orange baby. There was talk earlier (probably on MMOC) about the quests datamined and if you follow the official preview you can make the connection.
You’ll need to first get your hands on Artha’s old hammer which still sits in the Dragonblight, you’ll need to collect impure saronite from somewhere, then you’ll need to collect shards of the shattered block of ice that once held the Lich King, and you’ll have to take out some pretty high ranking Scourge entities to charge up the weapon. Then there’s some talk about killing Arthas to possibly free the rune-edge so that it too (like Frostmourne) does not end up consuming your soul.
