Tuesday Maintenance Fapp: So you want to be a badass?
I thought this would get your attention hah! Its been a long time since I was a part of a guild that I wasn’t leading. Its been even longer since I had confidence in the leadership and the core of officers. Don’t think of this as an obligatory recruitment post, think of it as an open invitation to get in on something really incredible.
The guild Diversus is a newly formed raiding guild on Altar of Storms US and is recruiting more for further Ulduar Hard Mode progression. We’re currently trying to strengthen our 25 man roster. You can think of the guild as the Thunderdome of guilds.
RAID TIMES:
Mon. / Tue. / Wed. / Thur.
7:30 PM -11:30 PM EST*
* Times subject to extend during progression.
OPENINGS:
We could accommodate the following class / specs for immediate raid slots:
Warrior – (Prot / Fury offspec)
Druid – (Feral / Resto)
Priest – (Shadow / Holy)
Warlock – (Exceptional DPS required)
Rogue – (Exceptional DPS required)
Hunter – (Exceptional DPS required)
Death Knight- (Exceptional DPS with tank gear off spec)
* All applicants who feel they are exceptional players are encouraged to fill out an application or contact us, regardless of slot openings or circumstances. We’re always open to quality players.
_____________________________________________________________________________
The majority of our members have cleared Ulduar 10 and Ulduar 25 (minus Algalon), several hard modes completed in each, and are working toward completing the remainder. Gotta get them drakes.
We use an officer appointed loot council for distribution for gear (don’t panic). The deciding factors for distribution are based solely on attendance and performance.
We have a few guidelines to consider, please take the time to read through them thoroughly:
- <Diversus> is a newly formed raiding guild focused on tackling the most challenging encounters that WoW has to offer. We have a team player atmosphere, and frown upon cut-throats. Ball-busting is a must, as well as thick skin. If you can’t accept honest criticism, then this isn’t the guild for you. Every raider is expected to go the extra mile to get his / her job done, and show exceptional talent in ALL aspects of the game.
- We want candidates who have no intentions of giving up. Fluctuating schedules, inconsistent attendance, and laggy computers and/or connections are not welcome. The raid doesn’t revolve around you.
- Be able to pay attention to your environment, avoid “fire”, and know how to adapt. Situational awareness is a must. Take the initiative to read up on your class, and keep an open mind for those who may perform better than you. We stand clear of people that think they “know-it-all”. A good candidate learns something new everyday.
- A guild is a team, and some encounters will require strict min/max, and certain class/raid comps. Raiders will need to sit at times to make things work. If you have a problem with sitting out on some encounters, then you’re not a team player.
- Come prepared. Know the fights you are about to engage in WELL in advance. We aren’t here to hold your hand through the content. The ideal candidate uses food buffs, pots, and flasks on every attempt / fight.
- DPS should be able to put out 5000+ DPS. We have a lot of great players. If you wish to be part of our team, please message any of the contacts below.
CONTACTS:
Salao, Squatthrust, or Oops.

* If none of the above are online, contact a guild member, and leave your contact information with them. We will contact YOU! Please do not harass our members about application approval. Or shit, contact ME online or at my own personal contact form.

Brutally honest Guild Leading tips from Spooner
Q suggested that I go ahead and write a few tips for aspiring guild leaders or just existing ones that might be having a rough run of the game lately. After being a raid or guild leader in some capacity for about 4 years straight, I’ve picked up on a few things and consolidated most into a few very key points. Mind you I have fucked up more than damn near anybody I have met in this game and as a result I have learned MUCH so take that for what it’s worth. I’m going to keep this short and crisp and so fucking blunt that I’m sure to piss off a few readers, I’m ok with that.
- Get good officers – Don’t pretend you can do this shit on your own because you can’t. Make sure that your officers have the balls to lead in your absence and the desire to do so as well. If your guild members don’t have respect for your officers then you need to reevaluate who you have watching the house when you’re away.
- Be a grown up - It’s called accountability. That’s when you have guildies and officers that know how to wipe their own collective asses. Your $15.00 a month entitles you to the same enjoyment and fullfillment that the regular guildie gets. People need to be accountable for their own actions and anybody who’s going to pass the blame to the guild leader just because it’s convinient needs to go screw off. Shit rolls downhill in the real world, not the other way around. Make sure this is crystal clear to all officers.
- Always have fresh meat for the grinder – Don’t stop recruiting. That doesn’t mean you’re plugging recruitment threads constantly even when you’re good to go on raiding, but always make sure that you have fresh players in the guild ready to replace folks that have to leave the game for whatever reason. If your guild raids, this is pretty much more important than anything else because there isn’t a damn thing outside of guild drama that will bring the house down faster than coming up short members for a raid. Also as a guild leader make sure you have EVERYBODY fucking involved in recruitment. Word of mouth is by far the most powerful recruitment tool out there. Run pugs to fish up new members, look out for guilds breaking up and see what talent you can salvage, be ruthless but never compromise yourself.
- Don’t be a fairy and don’t lie to yourself – Figure out at the start what in the hell you’re doing this for; and be realistic for fuck’s sake. Players won’t follow somebody that changes his or her mind every day, this doesn’t mean that thinking up new ideas is bad, it just means that you need to not commit all your resources to something you’re not sure at all will work out. That’s inconsistency. As for lying to yourself, just don’t do it. Be realistic in your expectations. During the summer or holidays you know damn well you won’t get shit for raiders because real life takes a bigger slice of the pie for most people, and the majority of your good players probably have lives and jobs outside this game that require the attention. Be aware of your weaknesses in a group, identify them, compensate for them by either stepping up recruitment or switching to a secondary goal.
- Keep an eye out for shit stains - I’m going to elaborate this more than the others. Every guild is going to get a few of them falling through the filter. Be ever vigilant of attention whores, window lickers that stand in fires, people with fucking horrible internet connections, cry babies that need to change their tampons when somebody says fuck to them in vent, sneaky little thieves that take from the bank and never give back, needy little bitches that are always asking for free runs or handouts or raid slots and don’t do shit to earn them, and mutiniers that are just waiting to stab you in the back for a shot at some attention and clout.
Attention whores are the people that can’t shut the fuck up in guild chat or vent. They share every little detail of their lives and try to rope as many guldies as possible into the shit storm that is their reality. Unfortunately, the majority of people like this are female which gives a bad rap to a lot of amazing girl gamers out there. A message to everybody reading, you probably won’t find a quick screw in the World of Warcraft. If you do, it’ll probably cost you money either way so just get a hooker.
If you have somebody that just plain fails at the game, don’t carry them on your shoudlers. That fatass bitch that keeps dying to flash freeze on Hodir, the organ donor that keyboard turns and doesn’t move out of void zones on Kel’thuzad, and the hunter using haste and strength gems all need to just be flat out dropped or bumped down into a “social” rank in the guild where they can’t do any harm.
If you have people with bad internet connections but are otherwise good players, sit them in the corner to die during a boss and save yourself the headache of trying to babysit. If you have crybabies that get offended easily then may I direct you to Hello Kitty Adventure Island. If you see some jackoff constantly repairing form the guild bank or taking mats or asking for things, demote them to peon right away, give a warning about begging, or otherwise gkick them if it continues to be an issue.
If you’re clearing to Arthas and some lame ass is asking for Naxx or Heroic Halls of Lightning, smack him in the mouth. If the guild has momentum with progression you don’t stop to pickup the stragglers that didn’t bother to either level fast enough or gear themselves out to keep with the majority. The last bit are the traitors. These are almost impossible to spot, and as a leader you shouldn’t typically worry too much if you’re doing a good job. Just keep in midn there is always some asshole out there waiting for you to screw up so they can start some shit over it. Most people’s lives are such pure shit that the only way they feel better is by being an arrogant cocksucker in games like WoW. Put them in their place.
