Baron Soosdon: Looking Back No More

Long time readers of my site know I have a man-crush on Baron Soosdon. The guy is funny and possibly the most talented person I’ve ever seen. His work always strikes gold and there isn’t a single piece of his machinima that doesn’t entertain me. It helps as always that we have downright identical taste in music and humor (and if you’re reading this Soos I suggest you check out Caspa and Rusko if you’re liking dubstep).

Anyway here’s his description of the video, I really hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

This is my first ever Aion machinima, but it might be the last too. My subscription to Aion has ended, and I do not plan on renewing it unless the game gets some nice updates.

The video is done in the style of my Unlimited Escapism (World of Warcraft) videos, but with more music video-styled editing.

Making Aion machinima is currently only limited to ingame filming since there is no model viewer of any kind.

The Aion bots that inspire us!

Well you know it’s a lot of fun (or so I hear) to take a rift and find where a bunch of enemy player bots are out grinding and just sit there doing the server a service. I couldn’t tell you from my own perspective as every rift I’ve ever tried to enter was  complete fucking waste of time.

But I’m here to show you a damn funny picture. This is how botting should be in Aion.

Aion hits J!NX with new apparel

You know that you’ve made it relatively big when J!NX starts selling your name on shirts to geeks and trendy nerds alike. I’ll admit I have quite a few World of Warcraft and Starcraft shirts from J!NX as well as a few other items in my dresser drawers. Odds are as well that I’ll be adding at least one Aion shirt to that collection; I’m thinking the undead one simply because it looks wicked as hell.

Huge herbs in Aion

I had to laugh a little when I first saw this. I’m not even an Alchemist so I don’t use Theonia (an herb) for shit, but lucky enough the wife is and she’s well supplied with materials. Apparently the only place anybody has seen it spawn is in the Brusthonin zone and it doesn’t share its spawn across both channels. Also it has a 4+ hour respawn timer.

I mean I’m all for massive amounts of herb, hell if I had some huge herb here at home I’d never get any real work done at all. Anyway so yeah this thing is laughably silly, it’s as big as my character. You typically get 3 hits off any gathering node and 5 or so off Aether nodes, this herb gave 12 hits and of those I got 5 Fresh Theonia which is the higher quality version used for better grade potions.

You guys see anything interesting or unusual in Aion so far?

Heiron zone tour video released

I can’t seem to find much on the zone itself as far as lore and the likes, Heiron is a region in Elysea which is the home of the Elyos. It mirrors the function of Beluslan in being an end level zone for the Asmodians and has rifts that connect the two. It actually used to be called Interdiktah in the beta and older versions of the game. Very cool looking zone with a very jungle Jurassic kind of feel to it in some parts which is a pretty stark contrast to the Asmodian corresponding side which is full of icy and rocky crags and frozen jagged terrain.
