The Begining of Bioshock 2
Andrew Ryan has been toppled from his throne of power, the beast Fontaine has been extinguished, and Jack has moved on. The city of Rapture is locked in purgatory as it begins to fall deeper into an increasingly decrepit state. The splicers are spiraling deeper into madness and the city’s populace seems to be caught in a religious upheaval and the iron grip of a crazy ideologist.
God DAMN I love this game.

Revisiting Rapture
I have a small goal set for myself, I’m going to play through the original Bioshock over and over again until this coming February when the sequel is released. At which point I’ll jump up and down like a 6 year old and then lock myself in the office for a few days with my prize.
Bioshock pretty much did everything right as far as a story driven FPS can. It’s not a perfect game however, I do have my problems with the way hacking is done, the clunky combat, and far too many plasmids that really don’t do much that one super powered Electric Bolt or Incinerate can’t do. In Bioshock 2 they have redone hacking entirely, the combat seems to mesh much better between plasmids and conventional weapons (no more sticky swapping and reload delays), and the targeting doesn’t seem to be so wild (no more spray and pray).
But the biggest pull in Bioshock has to be the story. Everything is voiced, the writing for the VO work is spot on and runs a wide spectrum from downright creepy to manic. Oh, and then there’s the Big Daddies.
My all time favorite character aside from Andrew Ryan? Why… the magnificent Sander Cohen of course…
I would have to say that the feeling of complete mania we attained here in Fort Frolic with Sander Cohen. You can see how when society crumbled in Rapture and everybody went insane with splicing and ravaging addiction, the deepest depravities were brought to the surface.

The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, I love Gearbox
I love Gearbox, and I love Borderlands. Good fun even if the PC versions are downright getting the whole ass to mouth treatment with multi-player. I know for a fact that on the consoles, Borderlands is destroying right now.
Here’s a direct quote posted by one of the official forum mods. You won’t see this kind of badassery on the Blizzard forums that’s for damn sure. Sometimes I really wish some of the devs would just hop on the forums and downright fucking destroy some of the little kiddies that think the internet is a free license to be a complete asshole.
The last thread was a real abortion, so let’s try this again. This is not the place to have console wars, and if you post anything that could remotely be construed as one in this thread I’ll issue you a temp ban. Please talk about the DLC, what you think might be in it, what you hope might be in it. Refrain from platform discussion entirely.

Oh, and by the way, if you can’t be civil at the very least, then don’t bother posting. Yeah, this is the internet, but that doesn’t give you license to be a complete jerk here. Talk to other humans like humans, and don’t be a condescending ass.
The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned is the new DLC coming out on the 24th of November, so in about 14 days. Now there’s been speculation – but I can’t find a link anywhere saying so – that the PC version of the DLC will be out 2 days after the consoles get it.

Borderlands, what’s this?
It looks like fun. It looks like a lot of fun actually. I don’t know what the hell it is though.
A first person shooter game with the influence of Halo, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and what appears to be Madmax and Fallout. I mean sure you can take all the most amazingly delicious things in the world and combine them but that doesn’t always mean the result will be good, sometimes it can be an unholy primordial dish of satanic bile.
Borderlands comes from a good enough seeming pedigree. 2K games has put out their fair share of gems and so has Gearbox. Check out this trailer and see what you think:
- Cell shading.
- Character Development. (new weapons, upgrades, experience, levels)
- Killing aliens n’ shit.
