Starcraft 2 Beta and Official release in 2010

Starcraft 2 Beta and Official release in 2010

ss867Blizzard has been hitting up IgroMir (the biggest Russian gaming expo) with a lot of new information regarding Starcraft 2 (as well as Cataclysm but more on that later). During the exp, Chris Sigaty (lead producer on Starcraft 2) held a panel answering questions and such where he confirmed that the beta for Starcraft 2 has been pushed back to 2010.

I’m sure we’ll see this on the official Blizzard IgroMir website when the event comes to an end.

Bit Sigaty wasn’t the only big name at the convention, Mike Morhaime was there as well and he was addressing the Activision-Blizzard investors when he said Starcraft 2 is going to be released in 2010. He also noted that the game will be coming out towards the end of the second quarter and that the bulk of the work on the game is done and the project is following closely according to the intended timeline.

This all matches up perfectly with the expected Beta period length of 4-6 months taking into consideration the beta begins very early next year (something like Jan. or Feb. at the latest). I’m still hoping that my beta key from Blizzcon 2008 will allow me to share with you all some amazing Starcraft 2 beta videos and news so stay tuned.
