Honor Tokens and Points will- NEVERMIND Blizzard changed their minds

The title says it all, they did this when Burnign Crusade was released and there’s no surprise they’re doing it now. Score whatever items you desire most and call it a night folks, November 13th is a clean slate for all.

As many of you know we will be featuring a new Battleground, a dedicated world PvP zone and all new PvP items in Wrath of the Lich King. In order to make the transition from The Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King flow as smoothly as possible, all accrued honor points will be reset at the launch of the expansion. We do this to ensure select players do not have an unfair advantage at level 80 from stockpiling honor to instantly purchase the newest Wrath of the Lich King PvP rewards. For those with unspent honor points prior to the release of the expansion, we will be offering a few upgrades and special rewards in next content patch solely for purchase via the honor system. Not really surprising, on a related note, all marks of honor are also being stripped when this change goes live.

Oh dear, thank God I only have 1013 honor. :D

I have to laugh at all the people who thought it’d be clever to waste their time farming max honor for free epics come wrath. Now all you can do with it is buy stuff that will be replaced in a few levels anyways, and chances are, you already bought that gear, lol

Seriously, if you should be doing anything to prepare for wrath, it’s farming gold, and maxing professions so your good to go. That and doing some old quests you never got around to, or getting that epic flying skill out of the way.

Honor didn’t reset when TBC came out. It won’t reset this time. Arena points will wipe when you hit 71.

Seems to me like Blizzard is putting there new customers before the ones that have been with them the longest. ive come to expect this poor quality customer service from blizzard from dealing with there support staff and there GM’s consistant too bad so sad attitude. but hey, the world of war craft is huge, with over ten million players at $15 a month, they can aford piss poor customer service and still make a sizeable profit.

as sad as that is, its completely true. think how many more millions of players at $15 a month they’ll get from the new expansion. they just think that there existing customers will stick around because of all the time and effort they put into therte toons. not to mention wiping the honor and or areana points clean, will cause players to dedicate more time in getting there points back. this in turn will make sure that players put in additional time to get there lvl 80 purple gear, thus ensuring a high profit margin over a prolonged period. in reality they dont care if a single account pisses or goes fishing, as long as the bottom line is there.

“That and doing some old quests you never got around to, or getting that epic flying skill out of the way.”

As I did with the BC expansion, I am planning on going out and stacking up quests I never did so that I start with a nearly full “complete” quest log. Turn them all in for the XP once the level cap expands, giving me a jump start on my way to 71. :) I don’t think I did anything in SMV on at least two of my 70s.

yeah, and the line “In order to make the transition from The Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King flow as smoothly as possible.” is pretty shady. I read it as french for “in order to make as much money as we hope we wil.” I mean, they’ve had over a year “to make the transition from The Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King flow as smoothly as possible.” to pull this kind of stunt a month before the release completely unacceptable. like this one issue is the the only problem that they would experience when the expansion is launched. and if its so important to the sucess of it runing smothly, why didnt they adress the issue sooner?

Blizz just posted a new thread where they explained that they will NOT be reseting honor. However, there is a new honor system that will not use the same amount that we players use now. So, the honor that people are maxing now will be useless for 80 gear but they will still be able to purchase the 70 gear available now.
