New Calendar Feature in WotLK Beta

This is going to be a very nice feature folks. Hell this might be the definitive addition to the game’s raiding scene so far. There have been many mods and such that can do the same thing but getting everybody in the guild who’s actively raiding to keep track and actually download the thing can be a hassle. Enter Blizzard.

The calendar has built into it a date listing for all the major normal in game events. This would include the Darkmoon Fair, Battleground Holidays, any in game world event holidays like Brewfest or the Mid-Summer Fire Festival.  As well though you can (as guild leader for example) setup raid dates and times with instance icons and other such little tidbits. This is a very nice and well detailed system and will really help out the raid scene.

Right now I know that many guilds keep track of raiding and such through the use of websites and guild forums, and as great as those tools are they kind of set a standard that newly formed guilds or low budget gamers can’t really afford to tap into. This built in calendar and management tool will really help out the more casual guilds out there that perhaps don’t have such a strong community oriented setup.

Here’s a closer look.

  1. Oh now that is just awesome. As a guild leader, not having to make sure everyone has the latest version of a guild calander addon is going to be simply awesome.

  2. Yeah right now I’m guild leader of the 4 people with me on my server :P but as soon as we feel like doing end game stuff again I’m sure this tool will be great.

I remember how hard it was being GM and making sure everybody came on time, knew what day was the raid etc etc

  3. Classic line: “What time is the guild meeting!?”

    NEVAH AGAIN!!!

  4. Haha yeah for real. Spoon what server you on?
