Ask Spoon: Burning Crusade raids in WotLK.
I just got this email a few moments ago and the question couldn’t be better.
Galladon wrote: So we know that all 25 man raids will be able to have the 10 man option, but have we heard anything about strictly 10 man instances, like Kara and ZA?
He’s referring to the news that in Wrath of the Lich King, all raid dungeons will have a 25-man and 10-man mode so that all walks of life from the big guild raiders to the small guild raiders can see the content and get their money’s worth. It’s an awesome concept that Blizzard is still working the details out on.
Now his question does have merit, right now there are plenty of 25-man and 10-man dungeons in Outland that came with the Burnign Crusade, specifically Karazhan and Zul’Aman being the only two capped at 10-man size. No news has come out in regards to having these raids follow suit with the Northrend stuff, but I’d bet everything on the fact that Blizzard will not be going back and updating these instances. It would be pretty damn cool to have a 10-man version of the Black Temple just to see how it would play out, but having to retool and retune all the encounters (and there are many) in Outland raids would take too much time for the payoff. The most we can do (which I plan on doing) is taking a geared out Lv. 80 group through the older raids and beat the ever loving crap out of them.
Hell by this time next year I’m sure The Wall is going to be having it’s 2009 World Raid Tour. More on that when we get closer
Thanks for the question Galladon, I hope I was at least slightly successful in answering it. As always any questions, comments, or complaints should be sent to me via my contact form since I get those messages pretty damn quick.

I don’t think he meant going back and redoing old 25 mans — I think he wanted to know if there going to be any new raids capped at 10 with no 25 man version.

Oh, well in that case I doubt with the new mechanic that they’d make more 10-man strictly raids. They can get double the content from each raid if they work two versions. That way there won’t be the big problem we have now with the transition from 10-25 player gaming.
That’s the biggest road bump I see a lot of guilds hitting. You have an elite group of friends and family that gel really well together. The PERFECT 10-man group. You can predict each other’s moves you’re so close. Then you have to snag 15 more strangers and try to make it mesh in harder content. You start getting sour because it’s been weeks and there’s been nothing but arguing, wipes, people being late, not showing up, etc etc.
I figure if they design all future raids to be both 25 & 10 man viable, then they make everybody but the elitists happy and tbh, screw the elitists.

I wouldn’t screw them with Illidan’s cock!
I tend to agree with you, it seems unlikely they’ll add any strictly 10 mans in the future. The model of the raids being setup for both sizes only makes sense.
