New Feature of Championing added in Wrath of the Lich King
This is something we got to hear a little about in all the developer panels at the WWI 2008, Championing. As long as you wear the tabard of a faction, you gain reputation with that faction in any Lv. 80 dungeon in addition to whatever reputation the mobs of that dungeon award.
Naturally they’ll make it so you can get the tabard at something like Honored or maybe even Revered reputation levels instead of the standard exalted they all have now. With build 8885, there have been spells added that coincide with new tabards for 4 factions:
- Argent Champion: You champion the cause of the Argent Crusade. All reputation gains while in level 80 dungeons will be applied to your standing with them.
- Ebon Champion: You champion the cause of the Knights of the Ebon Blade. All reputation gains while in level 80 dungeons will be applied to your standing with them.
- Champion of the Kirin Tor: You champion the cause of the Kirin Tor. All reputation gains while in level 80 dungeons will be applied to your standing with them.
- Wyrmrest Champion: You champion the cause of the Wyrmrest Accord. All reputation gains while in level 80 dungeons will be applied to your standing with them.
Just by looking at this list alone I can imagine that it’s the bets way to attain the “Hero of Northrend” title and achievement by getting exalted with the above mentioned 4 factions. However, I can see how this would be GROSSLY exploited because as it stands you get reputation for the faction who’s tabard you wear. This means that your group can pick the easiest and fastest level 80 instance, run it until exalted with faction A, switch tabards, and run it again un til faction B is exalted.
Hopefully Blizzard sees this because with the work they’re putting into this expansion (and it looks like the be all end all of MMOs right now) I’d hate to see some lamer cheese their way to the top.

I’m gonna go with… a daily cd for extra rep say 2 or 3 completed dungeons while performing championing. Beyond that you get no extra unless you run the appropriate dungeon. OR a variable decreasing benefit from championing until you run the appropriate dungeon.
OR rep will be significantly more difficult to obtain.
