Sholazar Basin (pronounced SHOL-uh-zarh) is a tropical jungle basin in the midst of Northrend. It is found between the Borean Tundra and Icecrown Glacier. How such a place could exist in the frozen wastes of Northrend is unknown.

Much like Kalimdor’s Un’Goro Crater, the Sholazar Basin is an anomaly. It fills the northwest corner of the Borean Tundra, and is surrounded by nasty ridge, requiring climbing to reach it. Those that reach the top of the ridge look down into a lush tropical jungle. Hot springs dot the basin and you have to watch out for steam vents and geysers — hot enough to cook flesh from bones in an instant if something gets caught in one. Thick vegetation fills the basin, and birds and small animals are everywhere. So are insects. It is an amazing place, and hard to believe it’s part of Northrend.

This zone is very similar in design and appearance to Un’goro Crater. The zone’s climate and safety from the Scourge is maintained by pylons, erected by the Titans.

In Sholazar Basin players will take part in a faction war between the Wolvar (wolverine people) and the Oracles (the next evolution of murlocs). Players will be able to choose sides but Blizzard will allow players to easily change which faction they wish to be allied with.

A high elf scholar that once visited Kaskala believed that the Titans used the Sholazar Basin as a testing ground. Some of their experiments, or at least the remains of those experiments, may still exist. Thus, the basin is a potential treasure trove of knowledge and power. Who knows what species the Titans left here, and what notes and tools?

	Nesingwary Base Camp ()	The Nesingwary Base Camp is Hemet Nesingwary’s new location in Northrend. The base camp is located in western Sholazar Basin, just north of The Seabreach Flow, inside The Path of the Lifewarden, southwest of The Suntouched Pillar and west of the Wildgrowth Mangal. It serves as a full-fledged camp with a quest givers, an innkeeper, and a flight path.
	River’s Heart ()	Lakeside Landing is located on the northern portion of River’s Heart in central Sholazar Basin.
	Rainspeaker Canopy	Rainspeaker Canopy is the base of operations for The Oracles and is located in Sholazar Basin.
	Mistwhisper Refuge	Mistwhisper Refuge is an outpost of The Oracles clan of gorlocs in northwest Sholazar Basin. It is bordered by the Bittertide Lake to the south, Dorian’s Outpost to the northwest, The Savage Thicket to the north and The Glimmering Pillar to the east.
	Frenzyheart Hill	Frenzyheart Hill is the base of operations for the Frenzyheart Tribe of wolvar in Sholazar Basin.
	Spearborn Encampment	Spearborn Encampment is a Frenzyheart Tribe wolvar outpost in northwest Sholazar Basin. It is bordered by The Savage Thicket to the east, The Glimmering Pillar to the southeast, and Dorian’s Outpost to the south.
