WWI08 Class Panel: Priests, Hunters, Paladins.
Priests actually need a lot of love. They’re a class that’s always been hands down meant to be the best healer and yet they’re pretty underrepresented in the end game raiding scene where a resto shaman, paladin, or druid can pick up the slack and outperform with certain spells. Luckily it seems that all around the Priest class is getting some neat tricks to help keep them competative.
Priest
- New ability: Divine Hymn. New holy spell that allows the priest to heal the entire party. When a partymember is struck, the attacker goes into a trance. Good group PVP survivability tool.
- New 51 point shadow talent: Dispersion. 90% incoming damage reduction, 6% health/mana regen. The priest can move, but cannot cast spells. Allows a new form of defense against melee to make Shadow Priests more viable in highend Arena PVP
- New talent: Guardian Spirit. Prevents friendly target from being killed. A pet that gives “Cheat Death” to the target, if the player would die, the spirit pet dies instead. Seems similar to what the Karazhan books give you in the way of an extra healer spamming for free, however the added life saving move seems like it’ll be really nice for the clutch situations where maybe your tank gets an unlucky boot to the head.
Paladin
- Retribution paladins itemization will be moved to the same item as Warriors/Death Knights We kind of already knew this but there’s nothing to comment on. Plate users are just going to have more competition all around like cloth DPS.
- A new reactive healing spell will be added - Hand of Purity. Think Prayer of mending.
- Paladin’s short-term-blessings no longer overwrite long-term-blessings. This means that they are trying to rename and rework Blessing of Freedom or Blessing of Protection so they won’t erase the normal buff like Kings or Wisdom.
Hunter
- All kind of pets will have their own talent tree. A tanking talent tree, a DPS talent tree, and an utility talent tree. Each kind of pet family will have its own talent tree and its own unique ability. I like where this is going because the only thing that really makes the WoW Hunter stand out from other ranger type classes before it, has been the pet mechanics.
- The shot clipping will be removed from Steady Shot, you’ll be able to use it without “interrupting” your autoshot. Hunters will be able to just spam it. Hunters can’t bitch anymore about being nerfed. You just got all your complicated as hell shot rotations simplified a little bit.
- There are going to be new pets in WotLK.
- The skill points for each pets are being changed to the new “Pet talents” and will disappear.
