Wrath of the Lich King loot concepts.
It’s a pretty hot topic as we grow closer and closer to the expansion that looting has been vastly modified since original WoW’s release up until now. With the inception of Zul’Gurub, tokens instead of actual gear dropped and since then has been the staple of all Tier items.
There has been many more sets included in the game since Burning Crusade (compared to the 2 or 3 non class oriented ones) and one can only question what is in store come WOTLK? Are we going to have a different crafting base no? Will primals go the way of the essences? How about enchanting, leather, and so forth.
At least for actual equipment models and stats, Bornakk was able to produce some information.
This is what I was going to bring up. We do plan to have more specs share some loot. I know it’s great when the Retribution-Paladin piece drops, but that’s a piece that isn’t good for 26 other classes/specs, so hopefully we can make it so the item will apply to more classes/specs so even the randomness of loot won’t be so much of a big deal. When there are examples for players to see it should be easier to understand. (src)
No ETA other than “when we are closer to launching Wrath of the Lich King.”
And yes, it could hurt a lot to show one piece of loot as having multiple examples would pretty much be required for multiple classes. Just saying “this Fury Warrior piece will be good for Retribution Paladins” won’t accomplish much as players will immediately jump to the next step of needing to know the details of how their skills/talents are being changed to take advantage of this new setup and without that, it would only cause problems.
