I’ve been meaning to talk about this for a while. Varian Wrynn. The guy is badass. He’s the Alliance version of Thrall basically. You learn about him in some of the novels and the comic book series is pretty much his story. I love the fact that Blizzard is taking lore to a new level in that you can figure out what’s going on in the story not just from the gameplay but from comics, books, possibly movies (if that ever gets finished)

So here is a sneak peek as the King of Stormwind returns from his journey. Having escaped one way of the other from captivity near Dustwallow Marsh and then washing up on shore deep in Horde territory, he is picked up and made a slave to fight in underground Gladiator battles (the way the arena SHOULD BE GODDAMNIT) where he is paired up with a NE Druid and a BE Rogue. One thing leads to another and they find themselves (with Varian’s memory returned to him by Aegwynn, the mother of Medivh and personal buddy of Jaina Proudmoore) in Menethil Harbor tryingto get back to Stormwind to bring some sense to the world again.

I’m REALLY curious as to what’s going to happen because you know, Onyxia happens to be sitting in the throne room constantly and plays a big role still (even long after she’s been outdated) in the game’s story.

OH! Also here is a sneak peek at some WotLK Alpha stuff… this is a statue of Varian Wrynn that may be found in Stormwind or Northrend. I don’t know which yet but it’s going to be a very interesting turn of events.
