Welcome to Bear country.
Yeah, just like Bear Cavalry you’re pretty much fscked. I’m just kidding really this place looks completely and utterly badass. This ladies and gents is the Grizzly Hills. Homeland of the Furbolgs! Checking out the Wrath homepage or going to the WoW homepage as well can lead you to a short video and few screenshots of the new zone. It seems that Wrath is coming along really nicely and the new graphic effects are incredible.
We can already see the new fire effects in ZA as well in the Sunwell area on the PTRs but with this zone showcased now we can see how the new effects are being delt with water and clouds. When i first stepped through the Dark portal and saw the sky of outlands, I did have to take a moment to let it sink in. Same thing when I first walked into Nagrand. Blizzard makes it their trademark to have amazing games with incredible visuals, and yet I’m still surprised at how much more they advance with ever title. Here’s a slug from the site.
The lush, primordial mountains of the Grizzly Hills are a stark contrast to the snowy peaks that separate it from the Howling Fjord to the south.
In the heart of this wild frontier lies the ancestral home of the furbolgs, Grizzlemaw. For generations the tribal furbolgs have worshipped a colossal prehistoric bear that roams the surrounding wilderness.
Although the gentle furbolgs have grown accustomed to living in relative peace, recent incursions have forced the ancient tribes to engage in battle. Trappers are encroaching upon furbolg hunting grounds, and the goblin Venture Company has begun large-scale deforesting operations throughout the region.
Despite the trappers and goblins, the most imminent threat comes from the north, where throngs of undead Drakkari ice trolls have begun pouring from their stronghold of Drak’Tharon Keep.
The cause of the Drakkari’s sudden invasion remains a mystery. The two races survived for centuries without conflict, but the furbolgs now find themselves in a desperate struggle to hold their land against the steadily increasing numbers of undead trolls.
The Alliance and Horde have recently begun efforts to establish a presence in the Grizzly Hills, yet this untamed frontier remains a vast and dangerous wilderness that until recently, time had forgotten.
