UI overhaul for 2.4 a dream come true.

In keeping up with all the changes in 2.4 the UI has had a minor face lift. Specifically the interface options in the game menu and the combat log. Here’s a slight walk through on all the changes. When you open up the interface options menu it no longer looks alike and it doesn’t take up the entire screen thus blinding you to what may be happening in game. Now it separates everything into tab categories: Control, Combat, Display, Quests, Social, Action Bars, Names, Combat Text, Status Text, Party & Raid, Camera, Mouse, Help.

This is the new interface options screen. I didn’t go incredible deep in showing every single option sub menu because you should get the point after looking at one or two of them. You’ll see how they’re broken down by category and in that tab givs you all the sliders or check boxes to customize the UI. In this picture you can also see the last checkbox says “Show free Bag Space” which is a very nice new feature that tells you always how much space you have left without having to rely on a mod.

This screen about the combat options is pretty self explanatory.

The same goes for this screen on basic controls in the UI. Mousing over anything as always gives a tooltip detailing what it is and it’s function.

Here is what the combat log looks like now. I was very impressed since I never really did look at my combat log and don’t like addons that split it up in some unit frame UI. I don’t have the largest monitor so it works out that I’m a purist and really don’t like a lot of excess information on my screen. Here you can see the default combat log, a log that details everything going on within your character’s radius, only what happens to you or initiated by your character, and finally what goes on with your friends/party members. It also has a clear command on the right that well, clears the log. It is still somewhat buggy but that’s what the test realms are for.

This is just the “me” tab.

You can only imagine how much easier now it will be for certain addons to parse the combat log for theorycrafting, SCT reporting, damage meters, etc.
