The Daily Spoon: Figureprints quality control severely subpar.

cimg0575.jpgYou folks may have seen this circulating the web lately. Player Biscottii from Terrokar server recently got his Figureprint and was less than happy. Apparently the figurine took much longer than expected to be delivered and though this could be due to customs and international shipping, but I fail to see how it takes over a month for something to be delivered from Canada to the US.

Admittedly the people at Figureprints were quick to reply to Biscottii when he would email them asking what the delay was or the status of his order. So at least their customer service folks are on the ball. When he did finally get his figure in the mail it had no shipping damage and was packed rather well but the whole thing looked cheap and shoddy. Even without reading his detailed explanation and description I can see from the pictures he took that the figure looks completely covered in dust, the colors are bland and there is a big white blotch on the arm that looks as if the painter just up and forgot to finish the job. You can check his photo album to see more pictures of the figure.

I’m not savvy to the finer points of how the model is made and what side-effects could happen as a result of the process, but looking at their homepage and then looking at the finished product; it seems like a bait and switch to me. Figureprints is officially endorsed by Blizzard so I imagine this is going to get some press sooner or later as it doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident. Good news being that very shortly after Biscottii messaged the Figureprints people about his issue he was promised a new figure was going to be sent in the mail free of charge and he could keep the original he was sent.

I really like the idea and think this is a wonderful little service, but if these problems are any indication of the overall quality of the work, I wouldn’t pay a dime let alone the high price they’re asking for the figurines.
