Last night there were some rolling restarts for many realms, I breifly touched on this during the day but apparently things got worse as the night progressed. I wasn’t on an affected server and so can’t speak from personal experience but I have been doing some snooping and the issue has been resolved.

Instead of realm names, players from other servers would have their names displayed with the server ID tag (like US5-BG9 etc). This was a big deal as it prevented people for figuring out they were up against a pre-made let alone looking downright freaky. What has me really bothered is the fact that the issue had been present in the PTR but seems not to have been addressed completely when Patch 2.4 went live.

All realms are now online and available for play. Thank you for your patience.

The rolling restarts are still ongoing but some realms are requiring further attention as we continue to work on resolving this issue. We currently estimate that all realms will be playable by 4:30AM PDT.

We are currently performing rolling restarts for all realms to mark players with their appropriate realm names in Battlegrounds. Each realm will be down for about 15 minutes and the entire process will take approximately 2 hours.
