Ok, let me explain. Before the Burning Crusade launched, we got all kinds of nice preview pages on the official website that let us see the new talents, play with the new talent builder, we saw new spells and zones and such. SO! With that in mind you would agree that it only makes sense for Blizzard to release the same information regarding changes and such in Wrath of the Lich King.

As well we got a new patch “Calm before the Storm” a little bit before the actual launch that changed the fundamental layout of the game to it’s current state. Basically we were given access to the new talents and such and even some Outlands style loot was dropping off high level mobs (the greens that you start getting roughly around the late 50’s “of the beast” and junk). So here’s what we have as far as a possible patch 2.5 giving us the access to all the UI and class changes coming in WOTLK.

• “We just released 2.4.2 on the PTR [public test realm] last week and that’s just kind of a minor bug fix patch with a handful of small adjustments. 2.4.0 does represent kind of the last content patch for Burning Crusade and for WoW before Wrath of the Lich King comes out, and so we are talking about doing something in between when 2.4.2 comes out and when Wrath of the Lich King comes out but haven’t decided exactly what that is or when that’s going to come out. It’s only a possibility at this point.” (src)
• “There will be no event to open the route to Northrend like AQ; the day of the expansion release, players can go straight into Northrend. However, a month or 2 in advance there will possibly be a large patch, similar to pre TBC. Players will get hints of why they will have to go to Northrend in this peroid, and this patch will possibly feature new talent trees and class changes.” (src)
• “Blizzard are planning to bring out cool new items for players to spend all their money on, BEFORE Wrath comes out.” (src)

The last part about money sinks has me VERY interested. What could possibly warrant spending tons of cash right now? I mean loot is loot but I REALLY doubt that Blizzard will allow you to actually buy epics for gold. As well I don’t think that another new flying or land mount will be something worth dumping gold into before the expansion comes out unless the thing has mounted gun turrets and can eat the souls of your enemies.
