Magister’s Terrace walkthrough: Part 4

Nothing much left after the 3rd boss except one more group pull and then Kael’thas. Although Kael’thas seemed to have died in his encounter in Tempest Keep: The Eye, upon turning in his Verdant Sphere to A’dal, he appears in Shattrath revealing that he survived. He is the final boss of Magisters’ Terrace. He is now being kept alive by a crystal etched into his chest. He has taken M’uru, the source of the blood elves’ power, and is attempting to summon his master Kil’jaeden into Azeroth through the Sunwell itself.

You will notice that he is missing one of his three signature verdant spheres, as one was given to A’dal. Also he has a huge fel crystal chunked through his chest.

The fight is not complex at all really. All he will do is weak melee and cast fireballs after frieball that can be interupted. As well he can cast a flamestrike which can be anticipated by the huge glowing glyphs and floaty things where he’s about to cast it.

He will spawn a Pheonix add that will run around slowly like the fire adds in Mechanar. It will do fire aoe then if not killed, will eventually blow up and do some crazy knockback and fire damage. He then turns into an egg which MUST be killed or else the add will be reborn with full HP and continue the cycle.

At some point Kael’thas will enter phase 2 which is a royal pain in the ass. He will cast Gravity Lapse which will turn off gravity in the room. You can fly around like you were swimming but do not touch the floor or else you’ll get thrown around and take some heavy damage. As well the entire party will start taking 300-400 damage every few seconds so group heals like chain heal or circle of healing even prayer of mending are clutch. The last element of this phase is the large purple orbs floating around, you cannot touch these or they will deal repeatedly 2000+ arcane damage.

After a short while Kael’thas will run out of steam and be stunned on the floor and take an additional 50% damage from all sources. This is your chance for the healer to top everyone off and for the DPS to earn their keep. In the flying or stunned part of phase 2 there is no need to tank so swapping out for DPS weapons etc is a good idea for the tank.

Once he’s down you can collect your bounty, use the orb behind his seat to get back to the Shattered Sun Offensive base-camp and turn in your quest for some really nice gems, a solid 24 gold, and free attunement to the heroic mode. Congratulations!
