Hey look the background downloader is working… OMFG INCOMING PATCH RABBLE RABBLE!!

Listen, I posted about this last night around 2am, or 4am shit I don’t know. Anyway, no the patch is not coming out soon, no it’s not coming out today, no that’s just rain stop panicking… ok fine go shoot at it.

Here is Blizzard’s official word on the patch and the background downloader monkey. Keep in mind folks that before most MASSIVE patches we get weeks of background downloading action. And don’t argue some bullcrap like “oh it’s 260 megs this MUST be the patch!” put the gun down son, this patch has 2 instances, heroic mode on one of them, class changes, arena gear, tons of new items, tons of new graphic models, an entire new zone, new NPC models, puppies & kittens, changes to the rest of the world, new daily quests all over outland, new holiday files for the summerfest event, big headed slags, changes to the PVP and arena system, and so on and so forth.

The background downloader has begun for the next patch, but as in the past, it’s just the start of things. It’s our way of making it easier on everyone once we actually do release the patch for live, and no, I still can’t say when it will be going live. (src)

Patch is already at over 240 mb….wonder how big this thing is gonna be once everything is said and done….and just how many mods are therefore gonna be borked for a few months.

Keep in mind, we’re adding a whole new area, two new dungeons, and some great new music into the mix among other things. Mod creators are generally very quick at making updates and I know that the UI and Macro forum has a lot of great information for them to use to help them get updates out. (src)
