Flying Mounts in WotLK.
Bornakk hooked us up with details about how flying mounts will work in WotLK. We already know that they’re going to be made available at level 77 which works out well since there are some instances in the Storm Peaks (Titan area) that will require a flying mount to access, like the Halls of Lightening/Stone.
It won’t require a lot of gold like it does now for epic flight, to use your mounts in Northrend but the actual plan hasn’t been solidified so things might change between now and retail.
You will be able to use the same mounts that you currently use in Outland. There will be some sort of process to complete to be able to use the mount once a character hits level 77, but the exact details are undecided at this time. If you are referring to needing a large sum of gold to use them, sort of like a new tier of flying skill, that isn’t the current plan. (src)
By the way that image up top is the new undead flying drake we might be getting as a mount.
