Dagger rogues once again on the backburner.

See this here is something that always bothers me. Rogues by far and wide have been a Dagger using class. Matter of fact, they are the only class that requires daggers to even use most of their abilities and aside from caster gear, almost all daggers in game are pointed at the Rogue class. They can obviously fit swords, maces, and claws but above everything else the rogue class at it’s core and lore is truly at home with daggers. So why then do daggers suck so bad when compared to the other weapon choices a rogue has?

We understand that daggers need a bit of improvement and plan to improve them. Currently though there are other options for doing damage for the Rogue so it is not like all options are blocked, but like I said, we are aware of this issue. (src)

I played a rogue for a while to kill some curiosity in my head and let me tell you, it’s a frantic class but leveling with daggers only is pretty much the most insane task I have ever undertaken. I hope Blizzard puts back the assassination in the assassin class.

  1. Have you noticed that Mutilate raid spec rogues are now on par or better than combat daggers? While not catching up to combat swords, this is a BIG development.

  2. I did notice that. A lot of the mobs have been altered in undocumented changes with patch 2.4

I’m surprised nobody saw it before. Skeletal horses and other undead targets can now bleed and be poisonned, as well many other mobs and bosses have been changed so poisons work. A mutilate rogue with the right talent spec and enough armor penetration is able to completely decimate now and come up to par.

The only turn off I can see is that daggers use more work than swords. Sword rogues have to keep their rotation up like everybody else but pretty much can autopilot most of their DPS while Mutilate rogues (dagger rogues) need to manage their energy more and keep moving.
