Captian’s Lounge: WoWProgression, time to get your Tinfoil Hat.

So check this out. Here we have a perfect case of good idea with high risk of abuse. There’s this website, it’s relatively new so the information is pretty limited in a lot of areas but it’s got great potential. WoWProgress is basically the equivalent to the NSA for World of Warcraft.

You can check guild progression, player progression, what guilds people have been in, what loot people have received, what bosses have been killed, the item level for all their current equipment,  guild members joining or leaving, when people change their talents and how often, the list goes on it’s pretty freaking scary. However it has great potential to be an amazing source to research potential applicants to your guild as well as guild history when ranking one against the other and so forth.

You can go ahead and search the site for you own character (I did) and it’s funny to see a pretty detailed look at what’s been reported and how much detail is available. This can be a little unsettling for some that information can be gathered so easily and without any notice at all but then again Blizzard had the same concept with the official WoW Armory and they spawned the Tinfoil Hat joke from that during April Fools.

Anyway you look at it, this site still has a long way to go before enough time has passed that the information databased is extensive to the point of real time application.
