Blizzard has officially dropped this press release.

PARIS, France. May 12, 2008 — Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its third BlizzCon™ gaming convention, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on October 10 and 11. BlizzCon is a celebration of the global player communities surrounding Blizzard Entertainment®’s Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® franchises. In response to the demand to accommodate more attendees, this year’s event has expanded from two convention halls to three.

“Whenever we’ve been able to meet and interact with Blizzard gamers from around the world, it’s been a great experience for us,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re looking forward to seeing even more of our players at this year’s BlizzCon and delivering another entertaining and informative event for them.”

BlizzCon will offer a wide variety of activities to help all attendees get the most out of the two-day event. In addition to serving as a gathering place for the different Blizzard Entertainment gaming communities, attendees will be able to enjoy:

  • Hands-on play time with upcoming Blizzard Entertainment releases
  • Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
  • Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
  • Areas and activities devoted to licensed products such as the World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game
  • Costume, machinima, and character sound-alike contests with great prizes
  • Commemorative merchandise based on the Blizzard Entertainment franchises
  • A silent auction
  • More exciting activities to be announced

Tickets for BlizzCon will go on sale in the next few weeks at a price of $100 USD per person. As the event draws closer, further details will be announced on the official BlizzCon website: www.blizzcon.com.

I didn’t get the opportunity to go to last year’s Blizzcon, but this year I’m not in the middle of a move across the country. Yours truly will be there in attendance guaranteed and there might be a possibility that a reader will get to go with me! It’s still in the early stages but keep your head up and stay tuned for more information.

  1. Nice!

I’m also going to try and go as well. It’ll be sweet If I do.

    Thanks for th info!

  2. Before the event goes down I’m going to try and get a tally of any readers I have that will be going so maybe I can spot for lunch or something.

Let me STFU now before I end up getting myself in over my head with the possible numbers…

  3. I think a lot of people will be going, hopefully a lot of readers.

The site even crashed earlier due to all the people checking the Updates.

WOO, I Contributed to the Website Crash! (A good thing..I think)

  4. I was bitching and moaning like a pro over AIM to my web guy. He comes back to me like an hour later saying they found the EXACT problem that was destroying the world; and it was me.

“Are you posting naked pictures of hot women on that freaking site or what!?” I felt both awesome and totally stupid at the same time.

  5. Haha! Well, I find the site great. And I do read it at school when I find the time between classes or even in then (Web Page and Multimedia FTW!)

Also, I’d feel Honored to talk WoW with you over AIM. The S/N is FalkonG4, so chat me up sometime if you find any possible time.

(Also, It’d be cool if you developed Log-Ins for the Site or even Forums or something. I can make some mean Forums if you’d like. You may not want to though and I can understand about wanting to keep the readers focused here and not on the Forums)

  6. I really appreciate it Cykke, thanks for the kind words. I’m trying to kind of make this into something more than just a fan site because I really do consider this my dream job. But guaranteed it doesn’t pay the bills nor will it for a long time.

Right now I’m kind of in developmental limbo as any given week I’ll be told “Hey the site redesign is ready” and I’ll have to start drinking heavily again for a week or three.
