HURRY HURRY HURRY LADIES AND GENTLEMEN FOR THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME OFFER
I had a rather long rant here but after reading it over a few times, fuck it. I can sum up this entire post in a few words. Blizzard is an amazingly great game development company. They produce some of the best games out there without contest, and they know that they have a very significant group of loyal (addicted) players willing to pay money hand over fist for anything Blizzard provides.
I can’t find a nice way of writing this post. I guess I’m feeling a little like “What the fuck, like you people aren’t literally wiping your collective asses with Benjamin Franklin’s face and yet it’s going to cost me about that much if I want to use 2-3 of the services provided?”
I’m starting to wonder if this is the future for all gaming. Sell something for $50, charge a monthly fee of $15, then offer micro transactions for ranging prices of $10-35 as well as $50 again for every expansion that comes out. You could just lower the prices you know, I don’t think it’s going to cripple the foundation of the company for too long if you charge say $5 instead of $25 for a race change. What do you think?
Compared to the other services, the race change service is more expensive. This is probably to prevent people from using it too much or often, which makes sense in my opinion.
Changing Race should be a big thing, and it’s a service that most other games do not offer at all.
The implementation of features like this is always a good thing, regardless of its price.
Sure, it’d be cool if it was cheaper, but then again it’s also nice that the option is available in the first place.
It’s nice that the option is there yeah but they have cooldowns associated with the services to prevent overuse. As well, what if you have a lot of alts? If I chose to reactivate my WoW account and transfer each one of my level 80 characters to the opposite faction as well as server transfer them so i could be on just one realm it’d be over $200 and by most standards I’m pretty freaking casual.
I don’t think they should allow it all so…no I don’t think its too expensive. $100 or more wouldn’t be too expensive for me.
Why in MY day when we had to level uphill both ways in the snow we didn’t HAVE none of yer fancy smancy changes fer money. We made our bed at character creation and lived with it….and LIKED it.
Yep.
OMG a service that costs money! and it’s completely optional, use it if you want it right NAO or re-roll and level up for FREE! Good grief man grow up there is no free lunch. oh and it is not a crime to make money in this country, (yet).
I’m just waiting for the class-change now…
Look I’m not asking for a handout, I’m just saying if they’re going to keep adding these features that essentially trivialize and have resculpted the face of MMOs for all time, why do they have to charge such high prices?
Slightly off-topic; I still feel a lot of these changes that they are offering for a price have hurt the game. Before you had to worry about your reputation, people knew the assholes and didn’t group with them. Now a clean slate is only a credit card and a few minutes away. Start some guild drama and cause a shit storm? KA-CHING! name change, server transfer, faction change, character remodeling, and why the fuck not you made a mistake, race change for the low low price of $150 or so dollars.
About the only thing that’s changed that I’m on the fence about is cross realm battlegrounds/instances. The whole instance thing seems fucking ridiculous – why do we need it or even want it? Cross realm BGs pretty much KILLED PvP guilds and a sense of pride/reputation within your server (your COMMUNITY). But it did help out lowpop fucked realms (because when there’s population imbalance what does blizzard do? THROW MORE SERVERS AT THE PROBLEM YEAAAAHHH!) so meh /shrug.
Eh, I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s a completely frivolous, inconsequential option that players are by no means entitled to. If you’ve got the money to throw at stuff like that, then great; if you don’t, or don’t want to spend it, then just roll a new toon of that race. And I see what you’re saying, about shit-disturbers being able to “hide” their identity, in a sense, but people like that give themselves away in an extremely short amount of time. Or maybe I just know a lot of people who are good at sniffing out jackassery.
