In Janurary, the folks over at Blizzard announced that they have broken the 10 million subscribers mark. WoW numbers are coming in roughly at more than 2 million subscribers in Europe, more than 2.5 million in North America, and approximately 5.5 million in Asia. Interest in the game is not going anywhere at all, it simply is the best thing out there and possibly even in the history of the MMO genre!

It’s not surprising at all that since its initial release back in November of 2004; World of Warcraft has come to be the most popular game around the world garnering multiple awards and astronomical sales figures. The only other release to even come close to its status was the first expansion pack for WoW, The Burning Crusade. Blizzard has already announced their second expansion and the expectations and hype around it are as intense as can be expected. Hopefully the Wrath of the Lich king will be available for launch by the end of 2008 or very early 2009!
