WotLK's Lake Wintergrasp to get Extensive Testing.

WotLK’s Lake Wintergrasp to get Extensive Testing.

A lot of people can say the same thing as me on this subject. Lake Wintergrasp and the revitalization of world PVP is a VERY BIG FUCKING DEAL in the coming expansion.
Already a lot of people are pretty much dismissing the entire project with worries and jaded cynicism that it’s going to be just like [...]

Remember When? Leveling

Remember When? Leveling

Welcome to the first installment of Remember When? where me and my compatriots will openly share our constant bitching about the little things in WoW that everybody gripes about sometime. In today’s adaptation (I say adaptation because it’s me copying guild chat from screenshots) I explore in very colorful language the subject of leveling.
The idea [...]

The Daily Spoon: Feedback?

More like the nightly spoon at this rate. This is a short post and hopefully I’ll get some comments here soon enough.
I’d like some feedback so far on the site. Help me find what’s broken and what needs fixing. Anything in particular as far as features you want or don’t want. Here’s your time to [...]

Cats and Dogs living together… mass hysteria!

WotLK Beta Opt-in Update.

The European site is up and rolling however. For our side here in the states Eyonix has managed to post more teaser stuff but by the looks of it we’ll be getting Beta ready today.

Stay tuned, is more like “super soon”. (src)

Registrations for WotLK Beta Open!

Hold on to your butts, this shit just got very real.

The registrations for the Wrath of the Lich King Beta are now available! At this time, you can only reach the page on the European Account Management Page and the “Beta Opt-in” link that was on the american account page vanished today. That’s probably temporary and we’ll warn you as soon as it’s available.

A lot of sticky posts were removed from the WotLK forums and expect there to be a really insane burst of information and news this weekend. Stay tuned to Spooncraft for the most recent updates since I’ll be commiting 100% of my time to this event.

Unused Areas of Azeroth in WotLK?

We all know about Old Ironforge (The Hall of Thanes) and the new Stormwind Harbor. Places like the IF Airport, the Arena behind Orgrimmar, and present day Hyjal. But will we be able to see more of these places come to life in Wrath of the Lich King or further expansions?

There are several areas in Azeroth that have yet to be completed. This is not to say that we never intend on revisiting some of these places. It’s all a matter of timing and finding a way to fit in some of our older ideas with some of our upcoming content.

For instance, the Stormwind Harbor makes sense now to provide the Alliance quick access to Northrend beyond flying to Menethil Harbor. Just the same we’re opening the Orgrimmar Arena to put it to good use for some new challenges in Wrath of the Lich King.

You may well see other areas in Azeroth of which we’ve yet to make use come to life some day. (src)

Here’s your time to tell me once more what you folks would like me to do. After all that’s why I’m doing this. Aside from the great joy I derive from posting on Spooncraft and keeping it alive in hopes that maybe it’ll grow big enough to really shine, it makes me happy to know that my ramblings and laughs are shared with people.

That’s why I started playing this game in the first place, I got the opportunity to share one of my biggest passions in gaming with others like me; and some not at all like me. But they have no say in the matter.

Gear Jump in WotLK as bad as Burning Crusade?

I spoke about this a while back but as new comments have come to light, so must a little update and reminder. People are worried about their level of gear going into the expansion pack. Before BC came out nobody really knew what to expect so there was a relatively large outrage when people started noticing their hard earned epic raiding gear was being easily replaced and all of their e-peen achievements were pretty much rendered obsolete within a few levels.

That is the fact of life in MMOs since gear is the sole method of progressing your character until leveling gets reintroduced when the cap is raised. I could go on about hierchy and gear stacking or itemization philosophies but I don’t want to pull another 4am night. Three in a row is plenty enough for me right now.

Wrath of the Lich King will work similarly to The Burning Crusade in that higher tiers of raid gear won’t be replaced immediately and they may help out the leveling process but a person in blues may get upgrades from their first quest completion. One thing I have been reminding players of is that we don’t currently plan to completely redo a statistic this time like we did with stamina. Where in The Burning Crusade players saw items with a ton more stamina that lead to immediate changes to their gear, in Wrath of the Lich King you should more or less be seeing gear that is just higher level.

WWI in game Pet Gift: Tyrael.

The Archangle Tyrael of Diablo fame can now tote behind you on Azeroth. Expect this little gem to be quite expensive on eBay; Paladins and priests alike are probably going bat shit bonkers over it as we speak.

Here’s a first glimpse at what he will look like in game as the PTRs were just updated.

The code for the in-game World of Warcraft pet that was provided in the goodie bag at the 2008 Worldwide Invitational will be usable at our Pet Redemption Webpage after patch 2.4.3 is released in the near future.

After you have received the in-game code from this webpage, the Alliance will travel to Stormwind and the Horde to Undercity to visit a new NPC where you will be able to claim the in-game pet.

The pet itself will be a miniature version of the Archangel Tyrael of Diablo 2 fame who will travel with you on all your grand adventures in Azeroth! Pictures of this amazing new pet will be available on the official website soon for everybody to check out. (src)

WWI Classes Panels Pictures.

Nothing too fancy here folks just snagging some great images of the Worldwide Invitational off MMOC that documents some of the disclosures about class changes and additions in Wrath of the Lich King.

Wrath of the Lich King Beta Date?

It’s been buzzing for a few days now but I’m of the mentality that I’ll believe it when I see it when it comes to release dates of any kind. Now today right now technically is July 3rd. Bornakk didn’t NOT say the Beta was coming out today. Bleh, I’ll start getting hyped if by sunrise we see something on the main page.

While we have made announcements at BlizzCons in the past, that doesn’t mean that that is the only time we will do it. The beta phase is not currently active and we will post more details when they are ready.

Edit: Just to add on to this - The date for the Wrath of the Lich King Beta has not been announced yet. This is a date that is determined by our development team when they feel the game is ready and not something we need to properly market for a length of time beforehand. When it does begin we will post information on the official website/forums about it and about signing up which we plan to do for it.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/beta-signup.html
As that is part of the official website, it is not a scam. This is the page that was used for the “Future Beta Signup” with the keys given out at BlizzCon in August 2007. Notice it doesn’t say that the beta phase is currently active. (src)

WotLK Leak Week: Druids getting an OOC Rez.

Well your prayers have been answered. Druids should now really find a few less problems with grouping since as the only healer because they have the tools to stand out as a strong solo healer and yet lack none of the core requirements.
